I'm seriously thinking about doing that, and I would not miss
the creaking from my pillars. but I will miss the 01's having more mod options out right now, and the tiny bit of quickness that the 01's seem to have over the 02+.(my friend has an 02, and I beat him on a regular basis...even stock I was running pretty tight with him), but my hopes is to get an avant. By the way I think the B6's are smoother cars to drive too.

I think the B6 is better than the B5
I sold the 2001 B5 for a B6.
The B6 is better in terms of available options (dipping mirrors that fold), standard features like car manual holder/grocery hooks/rear floor lights etc, and the larger size of the cabin.
Plus, this CVT stuff is so much better than the commonly used automatic transmission.
I definitely think Audi did a great job at improving the A4. The only qualm is that they didn't increase the hp enough, but at least the CVT kind of makes up for lack of hp by improving the transmission (brains over brawn?).

unanimously known, but hard to pick out
I have a co-worker with an A6 coming off a lease, and he couldn't fit comfortably in the old A4.
Anyhow, he tried out my A4 after I got it, and found that he fit in this one. He's already gone to the dealership to price/pick an A4 and will go with that due to the improved space.
I guess the rear seat room was increased a couple inches, but also the front seats seem to go far enough back for him that he can fit in the drivers seat.
I think the dash board is higher, and the door sides higher so everything just seems bigger. It's hard to explain the perceived space increase, but my fiancee's first reaction was that the A4 now seemed as large as my previous 2000 M5.
