LOVELY ABS!!!!! SPEEDO NOT WORKING.
Hello fellow Audi lovers. I recently purchased a B6 03 A4 1.8t Quattro 5 speed. I've been giving it a lot of tlc, and bringing it back to glory. That's until I hit 134k my speedometer stopped reading and my abs, brake and check engine lights came on. I used a generic OBD 2 SCANNER and got a P0501(I think that was it) saying my speed sensor was bad. Now after reading different threads I'm not sure wich one to change. I know it's not the engine speed sensor because that would read RPM'S (DUH and the tranny I tried replacing it but found a rubber cap that looked like the sensor that should go there but with not harness or plug. Now I read in a thread that it could be the wheel speed sensor from the abs? help? Thank you in advance. -Leo

Below is a troubleshooting link. It appears that if you don't have a VSS (have a rubber plug), then you need to be looking at the Left Front Wheel speed sensor. This was corroborated by Old Guy over on Audizine. And, final link has a bunch of other links in post number 6. One of those is bound to be your issue.

Speedometer not working, but no dash lights on & B6's don't have VSS, but ABS?
esp and abs light on intermittently, no speedo
