Default No start after head gasket job

First off id like to say hi to everyone since this is my first post. Now let me jump into it. I bought this 2003 Audi A4 1.8t quad off a buddys buddy who had overheated the car due to thermostat neglection. I knew there was a sh*t ton of work to do but i got the car for a steal of a price. So after replacing the head gasket, thermostat, water pump, temp guage, coolant flange, cam chain tensioner, timing belt tensioner, injectors, spark plugs, gaskets, new vacuum lines where needed and a new battery the car still wont start. Spark plugs are wet with fuel after turning it over and compression is good in the 4 cylinders. Timing on the crank and cam pullys line up correctly with the marks. No codes on the dash. So now im stuck here. After doing a bit of research, it seems i might need to buy a vag con scanner and set the basic settings or something along those lines. Are there any suggestions or advice to help me check if its something else before go ahead and cash out on the software. Any help is appreciated and thanks in advance!

I am pretty sure you need to do the throttle body adaptation.
I did a very similar process on a 2.0L FSI engine and the damn thing just would not start. In desperation I purchased the Ross Tech Vag-Com, ran the adaptation and the engine fired immediately.
My understanding is after a battery disconnection, the ECU should run the adaptation automatically if you just turn the ignition to ON (not start). You should here the 'whir' as the throttle body runs full open, full close etc, takes about 60 seconds. Turn ignition to off and then start as normal.

I don't know why mine would not do it automatically. Maybe having the battery disconnected for an extended time or maybe I had stuffed up the throttle body position too much when I was cleaning it but it would not do it automatically.

I had to disconnect the battery again recently for about 20 minutes to do an air bag plug removal, the automatic adaptation worked perfectly on reconnecting the battery.

I have found the VAG-COM to be useful since so it is not wasted money.

Ended up buying the wire and vcds software and following the throttle body alinement instructions. Still no luck. Motor turns over but it wont spark. Im thinking ive flooded it so im waiting for it to dry out now. these are the codes i pulled out of the vag software. "Signal for Duration of Ignition Off Time" and "Supply Voltage B+" are the two codes that i feel i should start with. If anyone has any experience with these codes please do chime in

Never had anything like this, but based on those codes (which seem odd that one is under HVAC and one is under the airbag), you have left something disconnected or broke some wiring while doing the head. See below for general troubleshooting from the Ross-Tech site for those codes. I would start with the ground
