strange steering noise
Hi. I have noticed on my A4 2005 1.8T a kind of “tic-tic-tic-tic-tic-tic-tic” noise when turning the steering, but the noise appears only when the car is hot and the weather also is hot. I put some steering fluid, but it did not fix the problem.

Mine does something similar when the car is moving at slow speed and full lock, like parking. I noticed it when I first bought the car, I checked the front CV's (inner and outer), they appear noisy but have not failed.
One day I might repack the cv's, but it's a messy job and it doesn't worry me that much as the noise has not changed in over 12 months.
If it makes the noise when the car is stationary and you turn the wheels, it's more likely the steering pump.
