Default Clutch

If anyone here has a manual, I was just curious as to at what mileage your clutch went out? I managed to loose the clutch and a coil at the same time, and ended up with one really sick A4 there for a while.

Know this is the B7 forum but I have a 2005 B6 3.0 6MT 155,000 km/97,000 mi - still on original clutch and not showing any signs of wear. Never done any hard standing start launches so that helps with clutch lifetime. YMMV. Coilpacks - different story; just replaced all 6 :-)

My B7's clutch finally gave up at 148,200 miles. It was so bad by the time it was discovered that the flywheel was all chewed up, creating a coarse vibration since it was now out of balance. It was only discovered since the bad coil wasn't throwing codes, and the mechanic started looking for other sources of the jerking going on. Though loosing a coil on a previous car, I figured that was the problem from the start. Same symptoms.

I forgot to mention that the car was repaired just in time. I had almost signed the papers for a new 2015 Audi Allroad still on the lot. But like many of us, our car is our baby, and I was having trouble giving her up. I know it totally sounds crazy, but I was worried about her going to a good home. Between the replaced coils and clutch, she drives like a new car. I came to my senses when I found out that the dealer techs wanted my car, because it's rare to find a manual A4 with that many miles that was in great condition. I'm at the dealer all the time, and as I found out the techs know my name, so when they realized it was my car possibly getting traded in, They got interested.
