Default Headlights on even when switch is off

Recently replaced the headlight switch in my 06 A4 with one I bought off Ebay (probably first mistake) issue now is when I start the car the headlights come on regardless of what position the switch is in. I am going to have to bite the bullet and drop 100 bucks for an official Audi switch or is there a fix for this? Thanks in advance

Probably, or try to get the seller to send you a replacement because the one you were sent is faulty. A switch is a switch is a switch, no reason one should got for $100

So regardless of where I got the switch, it should not do this? Wasnt sure if this is o e of those Audi quirks where if you dont use direct fit, dealer ad parts, the car rejects it.

I can't give you a 100% positive answer without physically looking at the car and possibly plugging into it but in my experience you don't have to use dealer god approved parts some most of the time. Granted Audi loves using too many computers in their cars and one small thing can set them off in a glitch tarade but I have never had a problem using an aftermarket switch. Its worth a shot to try and get a replacement switch from the seller(for free of course because you are telling him its defective) or there could be another problem somewhere down the line

I gotta ask, if there is no switch connected and your turn the key, are the headlights on?

Havent tried that yet, will do it and update thread. Additionally, I replaced the N80 valve because of CEL, how long before the light should go out or should I just reset it with my OBD2? Thanks!!!

Clear the CEL after any CEL related repair. This way if the light comes back on you know you didn't fix the problem not the other way around waiting for the computer to sort it out itself if the problem has been fixed or not.

What behavior caused you to replace switch in the first place. The failed switch may be the symptom not the problem.
