Default 2016/2017 A4 Moving Upmarket?

With the new Mercedes C-Class starting at $38,400 MSRP since the CLA took the entry-level spot, do you guys think Audi will increase the price of the next A4 to be more in line with the C-Class or do you think the starting price will basically be very similar to what it is currently?

Audi raises the price with every new model generation. It's called inflation. Unfortunately.

In 2007 I bought a relatively loaded BMW 335i sedan for $46K + tax. That same car today with similar options would go for $56K + tax. I would expect the A4 playing in this same segment would see a price hike as well.

Isn't the A3 supposed to be competing with the CLA? The way I see it is, the C-class, 328, A4, all competing cars. The CLA, 320, and A3, all competing for entry-level sub-40K space. Each of those cars, when you option up for the good stuff like AWD, 200+ hp, leather, etc you are now into the C/328/A4 range.
