B8 2.0 tdi 136hp turbo issue

My car is making a strange sound from the engine. Audi says the turbo is dead, but i want to be sure before changing the part, because its expensive. The sound comes from the left side of the engine, down the part where the turbo is placed. Its a 2.0TDI 136 hp from 2011. It has engine code CAGB.
Hope some of u guys can help me
