specs are more than just say cca ratings. vendor A goes to ABC mfg and wants a size 41 battery that does 550cca and whatever reserve capacity and wants it to last 72 months. vendor B wants the same thing but they need to hit a lower price point and 60 month. these two batteries are not built exactly the same.

Even if that were true (and I'm not sure I agree - you can spec a battery accordingly to time as well as amp rating, etc.), I would much rather spend $175 for a 5 yr battery incl install vs. $550 for a 6 year battery incl. install from the dealer so long as they otherwise spec out the same. The math is obvious.
In any case, I think we are splitting hairs here.
