Bluetooth pairing failing

If you are still having trouble, try deleting the Bluetooth device profile on both the phone and in the MMI settings then start fresh to create a new device profile. The MMI will give you a PIN. Be sure to set the phone's Bluetooth to be discoverable first followed by the MMI.

The first post shows the "Audi UHV xxxx" BT message on his phone. Unless the xxxx is the VIN from a neighbouring Audi, this is proof!
Although I never attempted to change the PIN, the function is explained in the owners manual for the first model year B8 with 2G Nav that I had, so it is my assumption that it should be the same in his car.

Yes it does. It implies that the first image posted shows I had a Bluetooth signal, but that I just couldn't connect to it. It also confirms that the error message shown was due to an incorrect PIN, ie. it can be changed. Lastly, it confirms that by going into TEL-->SETUP, you can view the PIN that is currently in use.
In VCDS, you can change the Bluetooth PIN (thx vcds wiki):
Bluetooth Pass Key
[Select]
[77 - Telephone]
[Adaptation - 10]
Channel 135
[Read]
Set the 4-digit Bluetooth pass key using this channel.
[Test]
[Save]
[Done, Go Back]
[Close Controller, Go Back - 06]
