PCV Valve
Can someone explain how a PCV valve for a Chevrolet is about the size of a wine bottle cork and cost $ 8.00 and a PCV valve for an Audi is about the size of a cell phone and cost $ 52.00 from an auto store, heaven forbid you actually get it from an Audi dealer ????
A PCV valve is probably (normally) the smallest, least complicated device on any car.

That's a pretty generalized question. But here is a quick answer. Look at the purchase price of a Chevy Vs. an Audi. Chevy is still using a large displacement push rod V8 in their performance cars. Audi uses a small displacement biturbo V8 in their performance cars. Different price points and different approaches to engine building. If you want cheap and simple you should stick with Chevy.
You should check out the PCV system on the 4.0t. It's crazy.
Also just for the heck of it I looked up a PCV valve for a Chevy 6.2l supercharged motor. It's $48.79 on Rockauto.com

"Emissions Service Action 17F9 - Crankcase Pressure Regulating Valve
Certain 2011-2014 Model Year Audi Vehicles with 2.0L TFSI Engine"
My MIL light went off and after looking at the codes, the CPRV seemed like the culprit. Sure enough, I could feel the vacuum from the breather tube on the side. I took my 2012 A4 in this morning and the CPRV was replaced per the 17F9 Service action Campaign. Cost was Zero (My A4 has 64,000 miles)

This was on a podcast comparing car manufacturing in different countries. Germans tend to over-engineer. A lot. Even though there's a simple PCV valve, one engineer will see a small incremental way to improve it, the next engineer will build on that, and they keep going till they've created a better PCV valve but it's being built in small batches with tighter tolerances. Thus it costs more.
Edit: mine went at 32k miles. So much for a better PCV valve.
