Default Piston Replacement Advise

My car is a 2011 A4 and it appears that it may be a good idea to have the pistons replaced under warranty as many of these have the oil consumption issue. I am contemplating having it done however at 50,000 miles it only burns about a quart every 8,000 miles. I use Penzoil Ultra Euro, change it at about every 8,000. Also use only Shell VPower gasoline. I am a bit concerned that if I give the go ahead to change the pistons that this major overhaul may leave me worse off. To the expert technicians or anyone out there should I go ahead with this overhaul or since it is not really burning much oil now will I be in good shape long term or will it start burning more as the miles go on... BTW - does anyone know the real reason why these engines have this issue? I was told some of the pistons were slightly out of spec...

I would leave it as is. If it ain't broke don't fix it.

FWIW, my 2011 BMW X5 burns 1 quart of oil every 800 to 1k miles so I think you're in great shape.

At 8000 miles per quart Audi won't even consider it so if you want to do it you would need to pay for it. A waste of money. If you ever get to burning a quart in less then 1000 miles then call up Audi to fix it.
