Default Power Steering Stiff / Solved!!

hi,

i have 2008-2009 Audi A4 1.8TFSI 135.000km vehicle. i bought it july 2015 as a used vehicle.
*1N1 - Power steering (Not servotronic)

And my car's steering whell is too stiff. its hard to parking etc. While driving its not problem, its heavy bu its like sport.
My Steering rack and power pump replaced at 2012 by previous owner. and i talked with him , he says "i changed but noting diffent. it still heavy/stiff. Don't replace to new pump "

i went to service first they tell it needs to replace "steering power pump" and "steering pump presure hose". i try just replaced the "steering pump presure hose" (because power pump is new.) (they didnt sad how much bar pressure, pump have)

after i went to service again they said pump is working normal, dont change everything is OK.

i went another service they sad also everything look normal. But really heavy.

and problem not solved.
i look VCDS, there is no steering preferences. (because of not servotronic)

*turning right and left, same stiff.
*while turn steering whell drive thru by self.
*not noise at pump
*not leaking, fluid is good (Fluid changed 3 times)
*Shock absovers (Front Suspensions) Changed.
*steering pump presure hose changed.

what can couses stiffing? service cant find?
Finally They sad this models like this. but i drove another 2008 a4 b8 1n1 they are too tight steering.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c-Ea07BZTbQ&feature=youtu.be i add a video about situation...

This is normal?

(i'm out of usa. / bad english sorry)

I haven't tried one but heard others complaining about heavy low speed steering in cars without (at least) servotronic.
If there is nothing wrong and another car with the same equipment is the same, replace the car with one you like.

As a sidenote; B8 "facelift" (after model year 12/13) all versions have speed dependent servo assist but it is not called "servotronic" any more.

i can't find same equipment vehicle, every car which i looked has 1N3 Servotronic Steering. So i can't make comparison. if your car's has 1N1 Power Steering Maybe you will help me to its normal or anormal.

A very late update

I retrofit my 1N1 steering to 1N3 Servo Steering and everything is solved. Steering was pretty smooth.

Hello there,

I have the same problem on my Audi, same manufacturing year and engine. Everything changed, but stiffness is just there.
Could you please write down which steeeing pump have you put in, I'm searching a difference betwheen 1N1 and 1N3 pump and couldn't find any?

Thanks and happy new year 2023

hello, there is no difference between 1n1 and 1n3 pump, diffrence is steering rack. You need to just replace steering rack and put some electrical cables and open servo settings from vcds..
ofcourse if your present rack is non servo 1n1 rack, did you check your steering code is it 1N1.

Happy new year.
