I just noticed the right trunk light is missing.
Only see a cut-out where it should be, anyone else notice this?

Yep - that's the way my Prestige is. Just noticed it this morning. Wonder if I had bought an A8L if it would have two trunk lights ? The least they could have done is put a filler panel in there instead of just leaving a big hole.
Did you look to see if there is any wiring there?

FWIW, I just bought a new A6 and it has one trunk light too. In the middle.

I wonder if it's intended to have one light, but the other opening is there for LHD cars that might get their light on the other side...

Even with two lights it wouldn't be much brighter but yes, one light is normal in the A4 sedan, A5 and A4 Avant have two lights. The lights are the same as the door lights, so if someone puts in the quattro or rings puddle lights you have two spares for the trunk and just need to extend the wires from the left to the right.

I added a few LED and now I can actually see what's in the trunk.

What LED is that? Are you taking power from the standard trunk light?

It's one of the strips from this kit: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003AKCT5G, just connected it to the original light

Thanks for all the feedback. I'll be at the Audi dealer next week to ask my sales rep. But it does seem like only one light is the norm.

Back from the dealer lot and all the A4s (regardless the package) have one trunk light. I still think some parts department was asleep at the wheel for this one.

The trunk lights are the same as the bottom door lights, if one considers getting the quattro or OOOO lights there would be two spares to install in the trunk.
