New Audi A4 sedan and Avant
#11
One would think that Audi would bring the A4 Avant to this market again because of the success of the Volkswagen Sportwagen. I have read numerous times that model is practically sold before it hits the dealerships. Price point, TDI option, are two big reasons for the popularity....plus, it is a solid performer and a quality ride like the new Golf variants.
Some say the Allroad didn't sell well because of the "station wagon" design and Americans would rather have SUV or CUV designs. Maybe so, but the Allroad's price point vs, the Q5 didn't help it any, and the body cladding put a lot of people off. Some spent the additional money to have those panels painted...if I recall, it was another grand.
I'd love to see an A4 Avant with Quattro, TDI, S-tronic on the order guide. As for the fixed media screen on the dash, I'd get over it. The A6 loaner I had while my Q5TDI was in for regular service had the screen popped up continuously. I retracted it for some time...sorta missed it. Most won't care if it is fixed.
Bring the Avant!

I am personally split on the fixed screen thing. ON one hand, the dash looks SO much better with it retracted, and it looks less of an afterthought.
Flip side, with a fixed screen, there are any number of fewer failure points.
It also allows for a variety of screen sizes.
But, as with the BMW and MBs, it looks SO "added on"...

Agree, Kris, but we'll just have to get used to it I suppose. The location of the screen is really good though. The fixed, smallish screen in my Q5 is a bit hard for me to see when in MAP mode. Older eyes with progressive lenses don't make it any easier....and I'm hoping the new displays in the instrument panel behind the steering wheel will be a big improvement.
Had a sit in a new S3 at the dealership last week. Reminds me a lot of my old A4 models in size. Felt a little snug to me coming out of the Q5....and there was the screen perched on top of the dash.

I am looking forward to sitting in the new A4 to feel how it measures up ergonomically to the A3.

2016 Audi A4 Avant Live Photos
From the article:
Audi has published several live photos with the recently introduced 2016 Audi A4 Avant.
If you haven’t made up your mind whether the new Audi A4 with its sharpened up evolutionary design suits your style, Audi has dropped several pics with the more practical wagon painted in what appears to be Tango Red, one of the 15 hues offered for the B9 generation.

I had the opportunity to see the avant a while ago and I will absolutely buy one when they are released, pictures doesn't do it justice.
A nice little detail is that the quattro logo is illuminated on the ground when the doors are opened.
