I really wish the A4 had their cup holders like they do in the new Q5. Way better placement IMO. Also a bigger vehicle but I'm really not liking the placement of the cup holders in the A4; but hey first world problems right. If that is my biggest complaint than I have nothing to complain about....

Cupholder placement is extremely personal it seems. I for one hate cup holders in front of the armrest. Its really annoying to put my arm down when something is right there. Was even worse with a manual car.

I like them up front and out of the way. Then again, theres no food allowed in my car so I dont know why Im actually discussing it.

They seem awful there, defeats the whole purpose of an arm rest. Either way, nothing ever comes into my car besides a water bottle which I just keep in the door.

I'm not a fan of exposed cupholders either, but I like the placement and the lighting at night so it's no big deal for me.

I wonder how the slide back cover affects the armrest bin? Can you not access your things when there is something in the cup holder?

It all depends on how often you use the cup holders. I rarely use them, so the location in the A4 is perfect and out of the way.
