Default Sport suspension and ADS

The sport package lowers the car -23mm. In the B9 sales catalog/ brochure it describes the adaptive dampening suspension as dampening and also lowering the ride -11mm.

Realize this is a small amount- but wanted to fully understand if this is only in the non-sport package cars or does it lower another -11mm with sport package also.

Thanks.

If standard suspension is zero then ADS with standard suspension is -11mm and sport suspension with and without ADS is -23mm

Thanks. Just to confirm- If the sport package is ordered and ADS, you get the benefits of dampening the suspension, but not lowering.

Has anyone tested the sport suspension with and without ADS?

Not sure what is appearing in NA publications, but the German site lists:
  • Standard (dynamic chassis is the description)
  • Adaptive Comfort is 10mm lower than standard
  • Adaptive Sport is 20mm lower than standard
  • Fixed Sport is 20mm lower than standard
I have also seen a further option, but can't find it on the German site, for a fixed comfort (description is comfort chassis) intended for bad roads. May be an error.

My dealer told me that sport suspension lowers the car and ADS makes the damping adaptive while keeping it lowered about 23mm. If ADS is ordered with standard suspension then the car is lowered about 11mm. So there are three ride heights total, 0, -11mm and -23mm.

Some posts on German forums say that standard with ADS is softer (in comfort mode) than standard without ADS. There are no conclusive posts about whether or not standard with ADS in dynamic mode is equal to sport with ADS in comfort mode.

Only time will tell I suppose...

Here is how it goes.

Standard suspension
Adaptive damping suspension (-10mm compared to standard)
Sport suspension (-23mm compared to standard)

Only the adaptive suspension is adjustable via drive select. The range of adaptive goes "softer" than standard but not as "firm" as the sport suspension.

There are two adaptive suspensions based on what I have seen and been told so far, so your list should be like this:
- Standard suspension
- Adaptive damping suspension (-10mm compared to standard)
- Sport suspension (-23mm compared to standard)
- Adaptive sport suspension (-23mm compared to standard)

Nope, it is like I have stated above for the A4 in the US.

You are correct and my dealer is wrong (I almost expected that). I just checked a US VIN with sport and adaptive dampers on myaudi.de and it lists "Komfortfahrwerk mit Dämpferregelung" which is the standard suspension with adaptive dampers. I guess the US order code 1BL really means 1BL (and not 1BQ) even if sport suspension is ordered.

The question is now, is the only difference between sport suspension and standard suspension (both with adaptive dampers) the springs or are the dampers different too?
