That's not a sensor. It's for removing the panel. According to dealer.

Manual? I don't even have my car yet.... I am still waiting for mine to be built. 😕 I wouldnt have guessed temp sensor, i would have guessed motion detection or something.

I can read good and did search the manual - please post a diagram with a label so we all can learn

It's entirely possible I missed it.

Weird that Audi wouldn't hide a service-related release button.

Looks more like a micro camera to me. I need to adjust my tin foil hat.

It is not for removing the panel. It is an HVAC related sensor.

You know what? I apologize at my initial critical post. It's not in the manual, its actually in my Audi related tech information. In the past these sensors were listed in the manual. They are all over the car and regulate the temperature if you have the HVAC set to "Auto".

You may not find it by searching the manual, but a search of this forum would have found another post (if only one knew what to search for...)

If it's an HVAC sensor, the fact that there's not a corresponding one on the passenger side is also curious and makes me wonder where exactly that side's sensors are located.

It's not specifically for the drivers side, its a generic front area sensor.
