Default '13 A6 "key not recognized"?

The last two mornings when I enter the vehicle and press the ignition I keep getting the "key not recognized" prompt on the dashboard. I then put the back of the key on the key fob area and it turns on. The keyless entry still works so I'm not sure what's going on. Any ideas?

The battery in the FOB is dead or about to be dead.

Default might be the battery contacts

[QUOTE=KevinGary;24838867]I agree it's the battery[/QUOTE

Had same issue. Replaced battery and woohoo, fixed.......for a week or so. Blamed eBay batteries, bought fresh name brand and worked again for a week or so. Removed battery, cleaned both battery contacts with a soft pencil eraser, and voila, been ok for 3 weeks so far.

Default Help!!

Remote key not recognized

Hello
I have an audi s5 2009
Keyless
I was under the battery
And when loading
The keyless does not open or close doors
Neither turn on with the button
I have to put the key to the switch to turn on
But pressing the start button flashes the key
Does anyone know something? Try changing the battery but it did not work either Thank you

If replacing the battery doesn't fix the problem, chances are good that the keyfob is defective and likely needs to be replaced. A much rarer condition would be if an antenna or receiver in the car is defective.

I have a 2012 A7 with the same problem, "key not recognized".

I have replaced both Key Fob Batteries, they both work to unlock the doors but the comfort access is not working.

I had the main car battery checked, "950 cold cranking Amps".

I removed all items that could be blocking the signal (easy pass, phones, other keys).

Finally, I checked all fuses. All good.

Any other thoughts?

i will give it a try maybe someone encountered the same problem: my key fob works to lock/unlock the car open the trunk, roll down/up the windows, keyless/comfort entry works 1 out of 2 tries, the problem is when I push the button to start the car, 1 out of then times it works and 9 times it tells me the key is not recognized and I have to touch the dashboard. once I do that the car starts. but if I turn it off it does the same thing all over again. 1 time tonight it even ended up putting the car in limp mode by deactivating mu transmission and something with the immobilizer. I have the full vag com page if someone can give me a solution and I can post it if needed. no error whatsoever related to my keyfob
