2012 3.0 TFSi ECU water ingress
Hi folks. Purchased a used A6 a couple of months ago - early 2012 car with 41k on it. Car was perfect until a week ago until the auto stop/start stopped working followed a couple of days later by the engine light and randomly running cooling fan. Next was the ESP light and limp home mode. Took it to my local independent garage (Audi couldn't book me in for 2.5 weeks...) and they eventually discovered that the ECU had become waterlogged with the plug and pins corroded. The car was then towed to the Audi dealer and I'm now waiting for them to investigate further. It's out of warranty by 5 weeks (obviously!) and I'm hoping for some "goodwill" from Audi as the ECU is something that clearly shouldn't be getting waterlogged. The amount of corrosion suggests it started while it was still under warranty.
Does anyone know of any similar occurrences with this model? The engine hasn't been jet-washed or anything daft like that but the car has unused sat for days at a time during heavy rain etc.
Any thoughts/ideas would be very welcome!
