Had a scheduled service this morning, car was delivered late 2011, asked the service rep and was told the recall didn't apply to my car. The recall services site doesn't show anything either.

If your 2012 A6 VIN doesn't show up on this website, it could either be the website has not yet captured the recall or only a certain range of cars produced for that year have the defect. The recall does use the words "certain model..."

Based on my out of warranty A3 and the B8S4 thermostats/water pump fiasco (?) most likely all 2012 A6 that go in for the recall will get the CPV and thermostat.

Based on the water pump fiasco in 2010, most likely no car will get anything replaced until it visibly fails. Everybody knew that the 3.2 plastic water pump (A4/Q5 and others) would fail sooner or later but most had to wait until their car lost coolant in one way (just a little to be visible) or the other (total breakdown at the most inconvenient time). My April 2012 VIN doesn't show up as being affected (yet).

Posted in A7 forum but basically all the same....
Does this have an effect on actual fuel consumption?
For instance today: I drove about 75 miles round trip running errands (mostly highway). My fuel range to empty started at 450 miles before I left and my average consumption was 24 mpg at the end of the trip. Now my fuel range to empty is showing 325 miles?!
Something can't be right....
