the price is going to be interesting since they are going to need our cooperation on selling back our cars since they can't be fixed.

It seems that everyone who owns a diesel absolutely loves it and is verbose regarding its attributes and now they are considering selling it?
If the price is right then it maybe a good deal but is Audi offering or enticing people to a replacement and is the replacement as good? Maybe the twin turbo from the EU?

I am going to wait on a comment until this hits the mainstream media and/or I get a letter from Audi.

The 25k "older generation" vehicles they're referring to must be Q7's since the A6, A7, A8 and Q5 TDI's weren't in the US until 2014. Hopefully the newer generation TDI's will get the option of a fix + compensation or a buyback. If the right buy-back offer is on the table, I'd be very interested in the new S5 Sportback, otherwise I'm perfectly willing and happy to hold onto my A6 for another couple years at least.

You bring up a good point. I think the issue for the Diesel owners is no matter how much we love the cars, we are at substantial disadvantage owning these cars compared to other non scandal cars. Depending on the price, I may force myself to return the car just so I can dump the risk, as I think bluebook value for it will be atrocious due to all of this.

Murica will continue to destroy VW for a non-fatal scandal (eg. other companies have gotten off a lot better, and they have killed people and covered it up and/or continued along.) This will continue Until they find out U.S. diesel cars probably have not been as honest as well. Then suddenly they will back off (we CANT possibly let our auto industry suffer.) Its just a matter if VW/Audi can hold out until then.

I've tested a MB, piece of total ****. So BMW is looking appealing...

Looking @ the VW 2.0 payout schedules for a Passat SEL with same mileage/region as my A6, the buyback would be about $28k, so by my reasoning/extrapolation, I'd expect my buyback amount to be somewhere between $40-45k. Maybe I'm way off base, but if that's the case and considering I've had my car for over 3 years, I don't think that'd be a bad offer.
