I wanted less vague, more up-to-date car reliability information. So in 2005 I started getting people together to make this possible. TrueDelta now updates actual repair frequencies, not just dots, four times a year, to report on new models sooner and track cars closely as they age.

Thanks to the help of JET and this forum, for which I'm very grateful, we've had excellent participation by Audi owners. I'd like to cover the C7 A6 as soon as possible -- just a matter of getting enough people involved.

Participants simply report repairs the month after they occur on a one-page survey. When there are no repairs, they simply report an approximate odometer reading four times a year, at the end of each quarter.

To encourage participation, participants receive full access to all results, not just those for the A6, for free. I'll share results in this thread when we have them.

Over a dozen C7 A6s and A7s now signed up. We'll need 25+, preferably 40+, for solid stats in May, but a very good start.

We've updated the our reliability stats for the A6 to include owner experiences through September 30, 2012. With 25 repair trips per 100 cars per year, so far these cars are very reliable.

We'll have further updates in February and May.

We've updated the our reliability stats for the C7 A6 and A7 to include owner experiences through December 31, 2012.

The stat of 40 repair trips per 100 cars per year is higher than earlier, and now about average.

Thank you, once again, to this forum and everyone who has been helping. We'll have further updates in May and August. The more owners participate, the more precise these will be. We especially need more participants for the 2013, to also provide a stat for the current model year.

History and psychology proves however that those who experience more issues are more likely to participate in such studies that are offered publicly and without a random sample size. Good data aggregation nevertheless.

I understand this. It's why this analysis, unlike any others, only includes problems that started after the participants joined. Pre-existing conditions that might have influenced them to participate are excluded. We're able to do this because, unlike other car reliability surveys, this one is continuous.

2013 A6 / S6: 34, moderate
2012 A6: 35, moderate

We have two additional statistics, "Nada-odds" and "Lemon-odds", to indicate the percentage of cars with no repairs in the past year and those that required 3+ trips to the repair shop:

2012 A6: 75, < 1

We'll have further updates in August and in November. The more owners participate, the more comprehensive and precise these will be.

2012 A6: 37, moderate

We have two additional statistics, "Nada-odds" and "Lemon-odds", to indicate the percentage of cars with no repairs in the past year and those that required 3+ trips to the repair shop:
