After the VAGCOM fix to display the gear in the DIS, it is easy to tell, if it is in the S-mode (and which gear).

Does anyone know how to make the MMI screen stay up all the time, even when the car has been turned off?
I saw a silver A6 C7 at the McDonalds parking lot the other day and when I walked by it, I immidietely noticed that the screen was up, but black. There was no one in the car.
As far as I know, this isn't possible? Or is it, and how? I have VCDS.

You are correct. In the five years since the C7 Forum was created, I've not seen a solution to either permanently have it stay up or down unless the screen mechanism was defective.

Not sure whether wiring would be similar to that in A8, but dvs_dave posted a wiring diagram 2-29-2016 demonstrating where to insert a switch to that when switch is in "off" position, the MMI screen will remain in position (open or closed, depending on preference). Thread title is:MMI Screen auto open/close disable

I was cleaning the car for a show tomorrow and I discovered that the trunk carpet is easily removable in the 2012 A7. Fold the rear seat down and you'll see two snaps similar to the those on the floor mats. Pop them off and the whole thing can be removed.
