Default Extended warranty for new 2016 A6

Hi,
So finally I ordered 2016 A6 g'day. Any suggestions on extended warranty? Any referral?
I asked my dealer and he is offering 7/70,000 for $2800 with $100 deductiblie.
Is it worth buying ex warranty from the market directly? Or dealer is the only option ?
Should one buy right with the car? Or it cost the same within first 10k miles?
Thanks

I opted for Mechanical Breakdown Insurance (MBI) from Geico (my auto insurer) and it is an additional $30 per year with a $250 deductible. MBI coverage is up to seven years or 100,000 miles (whichever comes first).

Per Geico's website "MBI is available for new or leased cars that are less than 15 months old and with less than 15,000 miles. Mechanical Breakdown Insurance is similar to a dealer's warranty but it is usually much more affordable than a car dealership's extended warranty and in some instances covers much more."

Instead of paying the initial $2,800 lump sum, consider this option as it may be better for you in the long run.

Keep in mind that extended warranties offered by dealers are third party, often from Fidelity. (Audi does not offer extended warranties of their own except used car CPOs). They can be purchased later and directly from the warranty provider (sometimes for a lesser cost). Once the car reaches a certain age/mileage, however, the cost will be higher. Call the warranty company directly or visit their website for details.

$2800??? You would be betting on a lot of problems for that much money.

does anybody know which warranty to go ?
i got some quotation from my Audi dealer for 2016 A6 7/70K, 8/80K and 8/100K , But later I found out that it’s not from AUDI, it’s from warrentech.

I think since i am buying form dealer ( warrentech) it should work the same as if its Audi pure protection?

Does anyone has experience with this? or it’s good to get Audi's ?
Thanks

As I mentioned in an earlier post, Audi does NOT offer extended warranties. Compare the plans and prices with Fidelity Warranty Services. They go by the name "Audi Pure Protection" warranties but are not sponsored by Audi.

I was also looking at an extended warranty for a new '16 A6 but decided to just go with the beico mechanical breakdown. The fact that it's not from audi direct was the killer for me.
I did do some research on pricing so will post info below if its useful to anyone.
Got best pricing form these guys. Dealer was higher.

6 yr / 85K - $2635.00
6 yr / 100K - $3218.00

The Audi 5 year unlimited mileage deluxe road hazard wheel/tire plan would run
$853.00. (standard plan would be $548.00)
If it helps, I can also offer Audi Care. While we’re not allowed to discount that
plan, (Audi CARE runs $829.00 on the A6) instead I’d extend an additional $25.00
courtesy discount off of the cost of the warranty if you’re purchasing both plans
together.

Keep in mind that these warranties are only as good as the provider. Will they be in business 5 years from now? Will any dealer honor the warranty if you move? How difficult is it to get the defect covered? Does the dealer have to submit for pre-approval? What is the track record for approvals - do they "nit pick" requests for coverage if something fails? Does the dealer get reimbursed directly or do you have to pay the dealer then wait to get reimbursed? If a repair is declined, is there a review process for re determination? Is there a deductible or cap on repair claims? What exclusions are there in the agreement - will they cover all electronics, entertainment/nav systems, mechanical components, etc.?
I'm sure I've missed a few, but questions should be asked before leaping into an expensive warranty contract.

Hello Fuzzydice,

Did you purchase the extended warranty from Toyota & Ford of Greenfield
Fathers & Sons Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche & Kia of West Springfield? Will our local dealer's (California) honor their extended warranty? Has anyone else purchased from them before?

I have a 2015 Q5 and I am looking to purchase the platinum coverage from my local dealer and they are quoting me $6,472 at a discounted price (orig. $9,944) 6yr/100k. I hope they are legit because I had a similar experience with a toyota prius where I purchased the extended warranty at a fraction of the local dealer's price and the local dealer did honored the warranty.

Thanks.

$6472 is way too much for a 6 yr/100k Platinum policy. Call Fidelity Warranty directly below. My guess is at least $2000 less expensive. Remember, if purchased through the dealer, there is a mark up for their profit, sometime significant.
