Extended Warranty. Yes No. From Audi or Third Party. New to Audi Question.
Hi,
So I bought a used 2012 Audi A6 Prestige few months ago. Now the original going to expire within 800 miles. So my question is should I purchase an extended warranty and which company should I go to. I've been checking prices around from SoCal area and they all quote me crazy price. I'm moving from a BMW to Audi. However, the price they quote me e.g $5,500 with $100 deductible for 4 years and 48k miles, my 650i only cost me $3.4k with $50 deductible for 4 years and 50k miles though. I need help since this is my first time owning an Audi. I love the car. It comes with all the possible options except B&O. Should I be worry or it's a very reliable car?
I really appreciate for any help and advise.

Worry. There is no such thing as a reliable German car. The engines are great; until they're not. But that's not what will break; you bought a prestige so it is loaded with toys that will stop working for no apparent reason at some point in the future. Warranties are padded pretty fat for the dealer but the main cost driver is the "cost to repair" which, in our cars, is about as high as you can get . . . which is the reason you need it.
There are lots of threads around here that will help:

The more you want to cover (like navigation and high end electronics) the more it will cost, but in the end they are all pretty similar. Go to your procuring dealer and then shop it online. Here are some providers:

Shop around - often times you will find dealers who will sell for a bit of a discount and make it back up in volume - but either way get one. As said earlier, German cars are amazing to drive but risky outside warranty. When something goes wrong it is often times very expensive, well beyond the warranty costs.

I just bought a CPO A6 Prestige and bought the Audi Pure Plat Protection for $2500 taking my coverage to 8yrs/100k miles. That is supposed to be $100 above the dealer's cost.

I get a quote from a company called SafeGuard. Has anyone tried them before? I got a great deal on another 48k miles and 4 years for $3.7k. I have the 3.0TFSI. People says it's more reliable then the TDI one.
