Has anyone figure out how to keep the screen open after shut off? A couple of weeks ago someone at work got a B9 and while passing by it noticed that the screen was kept open. Wished we could do that too. I tried a lot of different things and on two occasions I was able to keep it open after shutting off the car. What worked was leaving the open/close button pressed while shutting the car off. However this only worked twice so I stopped doing it as it does not work all the time and it might F things up later.

The A4 does not have a screen that has the mechanism to hide it in the dash and it's just a screen sitting on the dash. Personally, I feel like it's not as clean of a look when the car is off.

Yup, it's easier to keep the A4 screen open when it doesn't go down in the first place.
There is no way to keep the A6 screen from retracting that I've seen, even with VCDS. More owners are actually interested in the other direction - keeping it closed at start up. Which you can do but as soon as the car is placed in reverse or an MMI function mode is selected, up it goes.

Ok. I stand corrected, I thought the B9 retracted. Our design is poor by not allowing control of display position after shut off. I just think that this feature will not last and some of us will start having problems with it in the years to come. I will keep up with it by lubing the mechanism once a year or something in hopes it doesn't go. We should have had the option to choose the display position and it would have been nice if the dash display had the capability to handle the reverse camera when main display closed.

The retractable screen has been around for quite awhile in the A8 prob since 2008 or so. The early ones used a plastic gear that could strip out. With the C7, Audi switched to a metal gear that is supposedly more robust.

Good to hear. I guess I shouldn't worry about it as much.
