Default LED trunk light(s)?

Has anyone replaced the incandescent lamp in the trunk interior with an LED or LEDs? I wanted a lot more illumination in my C5 trunk, and never did anything with it. Now with the C7, I keep looking at that feeble little lamp and thinking "Hmmm, how much more light could I have with a big honkin' Cree and a nice diffuser..."

Any BTDTs?

TIA!

I know that unplugging the lamp throws an error code so I suspect that an LED will do the same because the "sense" is probably on a defined current draw. The code is not apparent unless you do a scan so it probably doesn't matter to most users and better illumination is a definite plus as this little incandescent bulb is only noticeable if you look straight at it.

I swapped mine with led. No codes and not noticeably brighter. Unless you use the led strip.

Did you do a full scan with VCDS? Even after I plugged the bulb back in, I still had the code registered until cleared. (I have not cleared it yet).

I changed out a few of the same type bulbs for LED's in my MDX and the interior illumination all matches in color temperature but it is certainly not brighter.

What LED strip are you referring to? Any links or part #s for either?

Yeah, color temperature isn't my goal, brightness is - I'm impressed there's a code for the trunk bulb! I could rig up a resistor if it came to that, but I want the trunk to be really well lit - maybe I need to work up a bunch of the LED assemblies you guys are using?

Thanks!

There is TunerDomes (Premium Interior LED Lights for all Audi at TunerDomes.com! - Shop by Ride - Audi - LED License Plate Lights & Car Interior Lights) but those seem rather expensive.

For full illumination a spotlight is unsuitable. I have installed a high power led bar. But I think simple type 5050 stripe led would also bring good results.

Now *THAT'S* what I'm talking about! Where can I get one?

I started looking at the LED strip lights and am worried about them being exposed. I'm not gentle when loading the trunk and so I think I need something shielded.

The led bar which I use is no longer available (bought in 2009, pic from C6)

Today I would use something like that. It is waterproof and with this a kind of "shielded"
