MMI Control Panel Replacement
I incurred some damage to my MMI control panel so I had to replace it. I remembered to take photos in case it's of any help to someone down the road.
Luckily it's easy to pull out with only four clips holding it down in place. No screws or bolts. Four wires plugged in underneath. So here we go.
1. First Pic shows the 2 clips along sides that hold boot in place. I wedged these clips inward to unhook on each side and pulling upward on boot.

2. Second pic shows put pulled up and over. I opened the ashtray door for access to pull upward on top edge of MMI panel. I had good idea where to pull since I had spare MMI to reference.Once these unlocked I wedged a plastic puller or metal hook to pull the back area. I knew I couldn't pull with too much angle or I'd break the plastic legs at severe angle. I had to pull upward with metal hook and careful not to pry against wood panel so I didn't risk gouging wood trim.

3. Third photo shows manipulating angle of boot to eventually pull out MMI. But needed to get clearance to life enough for me to lean down and unhook four wires from underneath.

4. Fourth photo shows four connectors, two on left and two on right. Most unhooked easy, one was troublesome and I needed to use the pick help me release the connector.

5. The fifth photo shows removed MMI from underneath. You can see the four corner plastic legs with metal clips.

6. Sixth photo shows reinstalled MMI in reverse order steps. I pushed the back down first and then front. MMI snapped right into place.
NOTICE: After reinstallation and the car is turned on, I got a E-Brake failure notice because the connector was disconnected and the ECM sensed power failure to switch. No problemo. I turned the car on, pulled up on brake for few seconds to activate it, then down to deactivate. I cycled the brake on/off couple of times and system realized it all was working and E-Brake failure notice went away.
Warning, My ebay purchase of the MMI resulted in a great unit but it had a bad E-Brake button, so I had to pull the unit out all over again and swap the E-brake button with the existing one from my previous unit.
Please remember this is just a guide, so if you decide to try this you do so at your own risk. Good luck.

Thanks for the photos. I was just thinking about this - some crud has made one of the buttons a little harder to push than the others... trying to figure out how best to clean that up, or maybe just replace the control panel
