Don't think there is any control over this. I too hate it when the screen closes and open...say at a gas station where I want to turn the engine off but leave music on...it has to close first by itself and then I have to open it up again...grrrr

I recently bought a new A6 and "thought" the MMI screen action was able to be overridden - reading posts it seems others are equally frustrated. I like the clean look of not having the screen up, and wouldn't mind saving wear and tear on the motor. Equally, I like to use the MMI so I don't want to unplug any source of power to the motor.
Has anyone figured out how to keep the screen down at startup (besides the answer of disabling the radio?) Maybe a dealer software hack?
Maybe I just need to get used to how this car behaves?

This question has been asked since the first A8s with the retractable screen was introduced. No one has come up with a solution so one could guess it's very unlikely there is one.
