When traffic is important to me, I'll fire up the free nav on my Android. Sit it in the ash tray and pretend I'm in the last car. Lol

Tend to agree that Nav traffic (mine is MY '13) is hit-or-miss. Most of my driving in in the greater NYC Tri-State area and the traffic feature provides a decent general overview, but I find myself using my iPhone Google Maps for traffic updates that are more detailed and timely.

The system is OK, the reporting of accurate data in a timely fashion is useless although Google, and others, can get it reported better. This is in LA where "LA's just a great big freeway".

Again, it must be location related. While probably not as accurate or timely as Google, my experience shows it's mostly useful in the Boston-Providence area. I can't speak to other locales.

I use it in LA and it's reasonably accurate and more convenient and safe than looking at my iPhone. Definitely worth the $4 a month.

Totally, the traffic in my 2014MY blows. Really wish car manufacturers would drop their outdated interfaces and infotainment systems and integrate with iOS and android already.

They're already starting to do that. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Audi has announced they will be incorporating both.

I've seen the announcement about a year ago and was supposed to come on 'select models' for MY2014 or 2015 but I haven't seen any cars with it yet. Did Audi announce specific models with CarPlay integration yet? Seemed like the 2016MY refresh would be a good opportunity to integrate but they didn't...?

In the past, Audi never confirmed the two systems would be introduced in any specific model year. They now state on their website that "some" models will see them next year in 2016, presumably for MY2017. It's not clear yet whether those select models will have either or both systems incorporated in a single car.
