Default New TCM version - no tranny "bumps" from 4th down to 3rd!

Took my car in for service last week as the left mirror got stuck in the up position. At the same time the tech updated the TCM firmware, now the 4th to 3rd downshift around 15-22mph is a hard bump/jolt.. anyone else having this happen?

Audi tech says to let the new software adjust to my driving habits.. somehow i don't believe that...

Hey all,

Any others with feedback after the most recent TCM software update?? My car is at the dealer today for a 55K service and this update is available.. i recall hearing from a few folks with negative feedback after the update..
Need to decide whether to pass on it for now. I don't really have any transmission complaints thus far.
Thanks

If you are happy now, I'd recommend not to update. You may have clunk issue at startup or crazy choke in 2nd gear.

Anyone happy with this update at all? My car is due for service shortly. So far, the transmission is butter smooth, no complaints. Have almost 25K miles on it.

The only difference I've noted after the recent update is an occasional 2nd to 3rd gear "shudder" I was experiencing is now gone.

Would like to get more opinions also, just turned down this update today. No tranny problems whatsoever.

I had a pretty bad 2-1 downshift on when slowing down on an incline....it seems like its still there, but only 10% of what it was before. No real clunking/thud/bumps on downshifts now, especially in dynamic mode. Dealer did charge me $130 though since I am out of warranty.

It's surprising that you were charged if it was a TSB appropriate to your VIN, even out of warranty. Never encountered that in 15 years of owning Audis.

I have a great relationship with my service team so they were going to update me free under "good will" so i've never paid for updates. However, they did say that since i'm past 50K miles, that this update is not free, even though i'm under CPO warranty.
