I haven't noticed any such noise in my 2012 A6. Could you describe the noise? Pitch, speed at which it occurs, where it comes from.

Performed a test drive today up to 105 mph, no wind noise at all, so clearly not a design problem affecting all C7s.

I have a 2012 A6 Prestige and can hear wind (a swooshing, not whistle) noise when I drive over 40 mph if the radio is off. I don't hear anything if the radio is on low. It's not terrible but I wonder if it's normal or if I'm expecting too much. I've read some car magazine reviews which note wind noise on the A6 and A7 but others including reviewers on this site who say wind noise is not a problem. I don't know if it's worth taking it in and risking the dealer adjusts a door panel or side mirror only to make matters worse. Thanks for any help you can give me.

In my case I noticed the same & wind noise seem to be coming from side mirror. On this thread some members mentioned it is a known issue in Audi Technician database,if anyone knows TSB # that would help.

I tried tape around area where side mirror is close to door frame, there is a gap under side mirror, also taped around that area few gaps to see if they are cause of noise. It actually improved a bit turbulance like noise. Now that is not a fix but to be able to guide dealer where to look. Also on this thread someone mentioned about a seal for mirror but I did not take it to dealer yet. So I suspect side mirror in my case but I may ask foreman verbally about whether it is documented or my car is missing a seal for this issue. I do not feel it coming from door panel but it is hard to pinpoint, for now I think in my case it is side mirror based on improvement after I added tape.

You shouldn't need the tech bul #. I had the problem, told the dealer there was a bulletin on it and he found it and fixed it.

Definitely something wrong before the fix. After, there is still some noise from the aerodynamics, but it is WAY better after the fix.

Bet the next yr (or 2014 for sure) will deal with the design flaw.

There are two TSBs for this issue. They are from a German forum so not sure if they are the same numbers that would be used here.

Hi everyone. I'm new here. I have the same problem ; brand new 2012 A6 (own it since the 4th of July) with a wind noise located on the right back passenger side. Sounds like the window is not perfectly closed... I'm not 100% sure that the noise wasn't there since day one as I noticed it a couple of days ago.

Can anyone give more information about the TSB on the wind noise and if it is also for the A7 and A8s??? I have a 2012 Audi A8L and I can hear faint whistle noise on the highway near the driver's door and the car only has 5000 miles on it. I am seeing complaints about this not only on the A6s but also the A7s. Please let me know if this fix can be used on the A8s too.

I had dealer install TSB #2027899/1 for my A6. I did not have whistle or high pitch noise at HWY speeds, but symptom was similar to window not closed or door seals not tight. After TSB I feel slight improvement but still there. It is very low & with radio on, can not hear. Not sure if this TSB applies to A8 but dealer can check if it applies or similar one exists for A8. There are parts involved around side mirrors that needed to be ordered for that TSB.
