I am glad to hear that you are ok. However, I think the damage is going to run you more than $5k.

Glad you're ok and not hurt....I fully understand where you're coming from. Glad it's just scrapes and you weren't hurt.
Don't worry, it gets better.
And yeah it's going to cost more than 5k...the car is aluminum.
Check the audi USA collision for the authorized aluminum specialist.

Glad you're okay. Just wondering if this was the "Driver Steering Recommendation" feature or ESP in action? The electric power steering is now supposedly able to turn the wheels in the right direction when it detects a spin. Did you feel the steering wheel move on its own?

Also, I think tractor trailers are the ones who need blind spot assist the most, to prevent these things from happening.

Yikes! I for one am glad you are unhurt!! Sounds like a scary moment, but the car handled it very well! It's an unfortunate event that makes us appreciate how good these cars are when the going gets horrible.

Best of luck with the process, let me know if you need anything!

Glad you are OK Snagit. The biggest frustration is knowing when his ulcer kicks in.

That really sucks.I personally would have wished the SOB dead and prayed he would die, after getting a bit further down the road.

Sorry to hear it. Get her fixed up and maybe do a couple small things or additions while it's being fixed.

I could feel ESP with the brakes but this happened so quickly that I really couldn't say that DSR kicked in. I was jerking the wheel around for just a moment or two before I slapped the guard rail and came to a stop

Actually, if it's $5K it will be on my insurance company's dime. My share will be $500. 'Bout time they give me some of those premiums back after the 13 years I've been with them. Only had a windshield replaced so they will still be in the black with me. Plus, as I mentioned earlier, no increased premiums with accident forgiveness.

My dealer is owned by a group that has a quality body shop which does all high end brands. In any case, I don't believe any extensive body work will be needed on this one. More like I got lightly slapped than punched.

Good idea. I might get caught up on some TV shows and probably take my wife out to dinner (in her allroad). Oh yeah, I've been meaning to straighten out my socks drawer.

Way too harsh there Bob. Got to try and match the punishment to the crime. A good 7 day stomach flu would be an appropriate, measured response.
