The car is finished. 10 days total - less than I expected. I pick it up tomorrow.
Looking good in the photos at least. Monday it goes to the custom detailer for film and Opti-Coat Pro Plus.

Thanks guys. We'll know when I can see it in the flesh.

Most semis are programmed to top out at 69 mph (those owned by large firms ie Schneider, Transway etc)

A full sized semi at 80mph? Reckless.

My gut would say he was under the influence .. I see no other conclusion for the behavior you described.

Glad you're safe.

I have no doubt he was cruising at about 75-80 mph as I was doing about 65. His speed is what caused me to notice him gaining on me in the center lane. Not often a large semi will pass a car going the speed limit. He was either under the influence or distracted on the phone or whatever when he moved over on me. No markings on the trailer that I could see but I was busy at the time trying to keep my shiny side up so I missed the carrier name.

Day 11

Picked up car today. Looks as good in person as the photos showed yesterday. Amazing how they blended the hood from the new right fender to the old left one. Cant tell any difference from one side to the other (the photo isn't a good representation due to reflections). The scrunched door edges are gone. Everything is tight and lined up and after a drive, all systems seem fine. Total repair for body work, fender and new wheel: $6882.

Next, off to drop the car at Unique Car Care in Stoneham, MA on Monday for the Xpel Ultimate film replacement, Opti-Coat Pro on the painted areas and the Optic-coat Pro Plus layer on the whole car. Also, a professional detail. Will be $1825 and the Pro Plus and detail will be at no extra cost. Total accident repair cost: $8707 insurance with $500 deductible out of pocket.

Thanks. I am. I almost forgot what it was like to drive a real car. That rental was a dog.
