Default Winter wheels

I am thinking about getting winter wheels. The Tire Rack website says this: This vehicle relies on the wheel speed sensors in the hubs to monitor the tire pressure differences. Although no tire sensors are required, a TPMS reset is required so the vehicle learns the new tire overall diameters.

Is this reset something I can do myself, or do I need the VAG cable thing to do this?

Thanks.

Takes 10s through the MMI, no need for any tools.

No tools, and no VCDS cable/software required. It is a simple procedure performed using the MMI. As others said, quick and easy to do. IIRC it is under "vehicle settings" but I would need to confirm that.

Same setting that I use after putting air in the tires? Either way I can look it up. Thanks.

Default Tire Rack Tires

Last week I received a set of 4 Blizzaks 245 - 45R-18 mounted on new rims from Tire Rack. They worked great and all it was was a reset in the MMI. I did have trouble getting the stock rims off because of sticking . All you do is loosen the lugs 2 turns on one wheel at a time and reverse slowly and hit the brakes and it breaks the corrosion seal.

An easier way is to just remove the lugs and lightly kick the tire, breaks the corrosion easily. Sadly when I was in high school I worked at Supershops (if anyone remembers those shops ) and learned this quite quickly with all the cars coming in for new wheels and tires.
