Default AUDI A6 3.0 UNIDENTIFIED BUTTON FUNCTION

I purchaseed an AUDI A6 recently. It has an UNIDENTIFIED broken button near transmission. And at back of mirror switch there is a hole. Does this two related? And what function they are?

Looks like aftermarket... could be the muffler bearing checker.

Sorry but the pics are crappy, back up and get some light on the subject and point to the part in question. At this point it looks aftermarket like George said and I was thinking more like a Ferndock Sensor.
