A6 C5 V6, strange whining from throttle body
Oh, its a 1999 2.4. Don't be put off, in pretty much all aspects its a 2.8 with different bore/stroke - pretty much every single auxilliary part is the very same.
My throttle body is making a strange whining noise for a fairly long time when turning the ignition on. I've run the TBA several times, says ATP (or similar) run for 1-2 seconds, then ATP OK. Leaving it for a minute then closing. Has not affected the issue. No codes.
I put a borescope in the intake to see what was going on (but was unable to capture it on video). Wasn't clean, but didn't seem "causing issues" dirty either. When turning ignition on, the throttle butterfly valve goes from closed to probably ~10-15 degrees open. It stays there as long as the whining noise continues, and closes back again when the sound stops.
-Here- is a video snippet of the sound. Pardon the bacground noise, street parking. Any ideas?
I've have experienced some slightly unstable idle, additive fuel trim (short and long term) and very slight judder on full throttle/heavy load. Not sure its related, but thought it worth mentioning.
