A6 cluster into A4 for testing
Can a UK 2000 A6 be connected to a prefacelift 98 A4?
I believe it to be a mix of type 1 and type 2! It has a digital clock but only two connectors on the back (green & blue).
The power is intermitant like a loose connection but I would like to check the ecu & clusters in another car to see if they can be connected to via vcds (neither engine or instruments are connecting at the moment)
Ignoring the immo, I want to connect the cluster and/or ecu to my 98 prefacelift A4 and see if they power up and scan via vcds. Idea being that if they don't or the flashing cluster continues then I will have a better idea of where to fix faults rather than swapping parts randomly.
This is a break out from another thread I have going but thought it would be worth putting in a thread by itself for anyone wanting to do similar in the future.

No immo on 2KA6 AFAIK.

Not sure if you found these. But your a4 cluster is not can bus. The a6 cluster is can bus. So communication may not happen. Both have the same pins for power and ground so it would at least power up, and if thats all you need than it should work to help you figure it out.

Afraid it does
Think us Euro's got them a year before the US.
Managed to "find" a diesel cluster to plug in and confirm the old one was the problem. VCDS came up with the following:
01177 - Engine Control Unit
65-10 - Unauthorized - Intermittent
