Default AUDI A6 2006 USED CAR TO BUY

Hi All, I'm new to this forum, i'm planning to purchase AUDI A6 2006 model driven 166k KM and found out that there is oil leak. Any recommendation whether to buy this after repairs or better let it go. Seller agrees to repair and he agreed for me to visit the garage and do the checking as well. Any comments. Thanks.

As a general rule, you buy a leaking car, it will continue to leak. There's a reason the owner didn't repair it prior to selling it. He's either incompetent or negligent. This sheet should be done prior to selling if not detailing the car.

Do NOT commit to buying it conditioned on repairing the leak unless you're looking a a screaming deal several thousand below market value…and the market value of a leaking car is already very low.

I couldn't see it properly as this was detected when we went through the vehicle passing before the transfer.

Thanks. If seller agrees to repair it to my satisfaction should I proceed or just let it go. Is it really required to do a full overall or just re fixing gaskets and replacing oil seal will do.

A few things to consider. First this is the C5 forum. The C5 ended production in 2004. Second you didn't say what engine this vehicle has. Third you didn't say were the oil leak is or how bad it is. It is absolutely impossible to give an opinion with incomplete information.

My suggestion would be to use this forum to research your issue. And then make an informed decision based on what you learn.

As its been mentioned before your thread is in the wrong platform forum, you really should move this to or start a new thread in the C6 forum.

This is the key question- where is the oil leaking from an how much? Mine's been seeping a small amount of oil at the seals for, oh, 12 years. I dont care. Its unmeasurable, but occasionally is lightly smelly. So what? People spend so much time worrying about irrelevant stuff.....

On the other hand if you have significant leak, that's an issue.

So where is it? How much oil are you leaking? And do you even know if its engine or transmission fluid?
