Default code 17746 A6 2.7

Just picked up a 2004 A6 2.7 after looking at 9 different used Audis' Owner of 4 previous A6's so used to doing the work and dealing with the problems. Cant believe how many scumbags I ran into trying to sell cars with No heat ( oh the heat doesn't work ? ) , multiple codes etc , etc,. My cheap Audi scanner has paid massive dividends over the years .
I opted for a Car with only 105 K at a great price that had some minor front end damage and had been repaired. The only few codes were for the Secondary air system so it didn't bother me that much. Also had a deal with the guy if it didn't pass emissions because of that he would take it back. It PASSED way under the limits here in Colorado. Anyway the car bought for a college bound daughter has only been driven a couple hundred miles and I got the above code ( cam sensor) . It runs and starts perfectly so anyway to test the cam sensors while in the car or pull them out and test? I was going to do the Tb and related Parts soon but would think if it skipped a gear due to a worn TB it would run like crap and throw multiple codes? Also it did happen after a Rain storm so possible it's actually a bad sensor and the rain jacked it up or the sensor had been damaged during the fender bender by P.O.?
Any insight would be great!
Thanks....
