Default CVT replacement

Hi, I have a problem with my CVT 01J 927 156 BG.
I tried to refurbish the unit but that didn't work - twice (although service suppliers promised life warranty). So now I would like to replace it with second hand one but there are no many CVTs 01J 927 156 BG.
Can someone tell me please if I can use different model instead, like 01J 927 156 EC or similar?

Thanks

Aren't these the Multitronic CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) Control Module found in non Quattro Audi's? I think that it is known for spitting out faulty transmission codes when it fails (The module, not the transmission). Anyway, it can be replaced through any number of online retailers. I ONLY know this from watching a customer at my last east coast mech's shop try and convince the mech that his module was bad and the mech havig to go through great lengths to convince him that Quattro's did not have this particular module and in fact his tranny codes were real.

I just googled and it looks like there are a few retailers. Chose one in your neck of the world.

So what do you mean it doesnt work? You did replace the "control unit" valve body sort of thing inside? Does it spit out faults? Does the car drive at all?

"It doesn't work" means that car is drive-able for 5-10 minutes and then just dies. Errors are mostly about not having link and connection in between ECU and the gear changer.
Anyway can someone help please, does anyone knows if this part 01J 927 156 BG can be replaced by some part which is a newer version and could be easier to find?

Ok so Did you replace the mechatronic control unit or not? If you did not replace that then thats what your issue is, you can refurbish the mechanical portion of it over and over, if the electric parts screwed up its never going to work. Its a very common failure do some searching, I think its absurd they would build the module onto the transmission case itself.
