Does OBDII Port Stay Powered?

I have a 2012 A6 Prestige and would like to know if the OBDII port keeps an active battery connection when the car is powered down so I can use a solar battery charger that connects to the port. Anyone know?

The OBDII port is on an ignition circuit so it is not hot at all times. You always have to power up to use a scanner.
