How to clean out the evaporator drain valve.....
#52
I have a 2003 RS6. I also noticed significant water in the rear passenger footwell. I also mistakenly though it was coming through the vent under the seat.
I checked the sunroof vents, windscreen cowl, plenum drains, door seals, pollen filter housing, ECU gasket. All were not faulty.
I read about the AC evap drain, but couldn't understand how it could pour water in to my car when it rains - my car was significantly wet.
So following the post in this thread I removed the trim and glovebox and lifted the carpet, then sprayed water on the windscreen, and sure enough, water was pouring in from where the ac evap housing thing goes in to the rubber seal.
I undid it and removed it. I then blew compressed air down the rubber fitting, put the spout back on and sprayed more water on the screen, still leaking.
I took the spout off again and put my finger down the rubber fitting and I could feel that it was significantly blocked. I ended up trying to clean it out and putting the spout back on and spraying water on the windscreen 3 or 4 times until I had removed enough crap or whatever it was so that the water could drain away.
I've now got an oil bar heater and dehumidifier in the car with the carpet propped up to dry it out. So happy to finally have found the leak.
