Default Installing Paddle Steering wheel in 2003 2.7T(Help!)

Hey guys,

After buying 3 seperate steering wheels I finally ended up with a suede gray 2006 TT wheel with paddles. And I purchased a 1Jo 959 654 M Clock spring from Shokan(Who commonly say they don't have any online-but if you call they have a bunch of them...Lazy?).

Now for the fun part. I followed Boston Driver's post(Great DYI). and everything went smooth. Until I tapped into the tip harness. My wire colors are different on the '03! BD looked it up to find that the wire config. is different. He suggested the car may be pre-wired for tip into the steering control unit. Anyone here know where that item is? Or, how/where to tap into to get the "-" and "+"??? I guess I can order the Bentley DVDand try to figure it out but if there is a shortcut please tell! Also...anyone in Southern Conn. with Vag-com? My 3rd party cable can't comunicate with the '03. Many Thanks to Bostondriver for helping me out!!

Oh yeah, I have 3 steering wheels for sale.
1-3 spoke gray from an 2001 S4-w/tip buttons(My Airbag didn't fit)
1-3 spoke gray from 2004 A4 w/tip buttons-(My 2003 A6 airbag fit perfectly)
1-3 spoke gray off my 2003 A6(Not tip controls/or airbag)

None of the wheels have airbags! Let me know if you would like to see picts.

Default Okay, here are a few wiring diagrams for you to consider...

The 2001 tiptronic switch, which you will see the three wires that were tapped in my install...

<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v739/hliu55/reference/tiptronicswitch2001.jpg">

The 2003 tiptronic switch which does not have the li/ge (violet/yellow) wire that was in the 2001...

<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v739/hliu55/reference/tiptronicswitch2003.jpg">

...since the format of the page makes the colors kind of unreadable, here is a zoom in for the 2003 wiring only...

<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v739/hliu55/reference/tiptronicswitch2003a.jpg">

And last, the wiring diagram for the 2003 multifunction steering wheel control module...

<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v739/hliu55/reference/MFSWcontrolmodule2003.jpg">

Perhaps someone a bit better versed in Audi wiring diagrams can help here???

Default ask Phil (Qfrog) on b5a4 about the diagrams...he spends his days studying them

looking for ways to hack his car apart and make it better.

Old thread, but I have a question. Where do you tap the third wire from your steering-wheel into the Tip ? I am going to do this install, but can't figure out where the third wire is gonna be tapped into. The up / down wire are OK.
