kind of fun to compare C5 S6 with 2015 A6
Edmunds.com source
6" longer wheelbase on the 2015 A6.
Using the 3.0T as a comparison to my S6 there is no significant difference (except for the 6" longer wheelbase that didn't translate to more legroom) other than mileage.
And the 2015 car weighs more than my S6 station wagon.
OK, it has more and better electronics, etc., and performance is better with the 8 speed trans.
As long as my C5 S6 runs good I'm keeping it.
A new S6, however….

I have to agree that except for the LED head and tail lights and the electronics, the C5 still looks nice and fresh compared to the 2015 A6. But maybe I'm saying this because I haven't seen one with my eyes yet and tried it. I won't probably be able to try one anytime soon anyways

I wonder if a lot of that wheelbase increase comes from the developments of the drive train over the years that have allowed them to move the engine back further relative to the wheels. They used some of it, if not most, to move the front wheels out further to corners for better handling balance. On our C5s, if you look at the engine from the side it is further forward of the front wheel line than most anything else, as a result of the longitudinal engine and quattro. I think the later drive-train developments helped them fix that.
