I could not have worded it better myself.

If you want a car to play with that will be wonderful when running, but not cheap or easy when not, go for it.
If you want a daily driver you can depend on and not sink $$ into, then don't.

Don't buy it!

Instead tell me where this neighbour is: I want to buy it

The O2 code is likely the interlock flex section rusted and developed holes.

The allroad is a nice car, the nicest car you will ever buy for $1,500. BUT it's only nice for DIY'ers. Otherwise it'll drain your wallet...besides the usual 2.7T problems, the air suspension system is what sets it back big $$$. And you have the transmission problems(but that's with all audi auto transmissions) that can get costly $$$.

It's a love/hate relationship

If you live in a cold winter area, you have to keep it in a garage. Otherwise everything starts to act up. It's funny, because it will plough through snow better than most 4x4 SUV's, but it has to come out of a heated garage to perform

Not all Audi autos are bad. But all C5 autos are suspect. I also own a D3 and their auto trans is quite good.

If you decide you don't want it, it may be worth listing here for one of the crazies to buy.

It could be a money pit. I would never sell or buy a $1000 car from a neighbor.

I'd love an all road. I do all the work myself so id buy it if the body is in decent shape.

Yep, to the right buyer, $1500 is a bargain. To the wrong buyer, $1500 is just a down payment on a never ending trail of receipts from semi pro mechanics who will use your car to learn (while charging you for the privilege.)

I might consider myself to be a "right buyer", but would not consider a purchase without a VCDS scan, a pre purchase inspection, and the ability to not have to face the seller every day. Even then, a failed suspension airbag is cause enough to have me pass on an allroad. I would prefer an A6 quattro wagon, without the fancy damn suspension.

Yes, but why spend the money when a non-air suspension A6 wagon does the same thing for free.
