Default smallest wheel size for 2.7t

Apparently search is not my friend today because I can't find any answer to this question.

I'm looking at getting a second set of wheels with snow tires for my 2001 A6 2.7t. I've found a set on local craigslist that were off a '99 2.8 that are apparently only 15 inches. I know the smaller option for the 2.7t was 16", so I'm wondering if 15's will clear the brakes. It's either that or buy some new winter tires for the 16's I have, then start looking for a summer set in the spring (maybe 17's).

Thanks.

Flint,

Default If you've got the HP2 (4 pads per caliper), only 16" IIRC

And even then, you need spacers or audi wheels or concave spiders to clear the calipers. If you've got 16" wheels just get snows for them and go for forged or S6 audi 17" or even 18" rims for summer.

Sorry, the 15's are from a '99 Audi A6 2.8. I imagine the 2.7t has bigger brakes to go with the more power?

Default Quite likely larger brakes.

Even if they're not HP2s.

That's what I was afraid of. The lure of cheaper used wheels (and being able to get them locally quickly) was too good to be true.

Correct - there are a few 16s that fit without spacers, it depends on the offset and inner spoke pattern. I have 3 of the possibilities right now - Ronal R28, Factory 16 x 8 (A64.2) and Ronal R-7. All 16 x sumpthin x 35et

Tire rack has (had) a few that would work, but you had to ask.

And yest its the HP-2s
