Default ticking noise and white smoke

Okay so after replacing valve cover gaskets, cam seals, camboard plug, etc. on my engine i finally decided to give it a shot and start my engine. Everything looked good, but then i noticed a ticking sound on engine and little white smoke was coming out of both cam covers. the noise sounded similar this car http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mxFNlLpEylw

what could that be?

Smoke coming out of cam covers? From where on the cover? You sure it's not just smoke burning off from oil that may have dripped off head when cover was removed?
Ticking ...don't know.

yes, about the white smoke thats probably it , i added distilled water before starting engine and began to spill on passengers side, because of misplaced coolant sensor. Im going to give it another try

Default What you say you did and what you likely did are 2 different things.

Did you release the camshafts from their bearings, i.e., release the lifters? To do cam seals you generally have to unless you have the special tools.
Not supposed to start the engine for minimum of ½ hour after reinstalling the camp. OTOH it may just be lifters not pumped up. Have to make sure the bearing caps are on the correct bearing so the oil holes line up. Also, count chain links and make sure timing marks line up. Don't forget to plug in the camshaft adjuster connectors.

I think I found the reason for the ticking noise, its aparently the cam chain tensioner on passengers side making that noise.
here is the sound when crankshaft is turned manually

another link https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=DdWc0d9tjnQ
and heres the ticking when starting engine...sorry for no lighning on video

so an oil change and running engine for while fix the adjuster or tensioner went bad?
it was good before valve gasket replacement....

I don't recall getting that step change on my tensioner when I cranked it over, but it was some time ago, & I don't remember it clearly. Do you see (or hear) similar noise on the DS tensioner?

I'd put it off to coincidence if you didn't mess with the tensioner. Just replace the tensioner (or just the shoes if they're badly worn). Search around online, the dealer price for a tensioner is unreal.

car runs good again, not noise at all anymore, i think it was the injectors, the reason noise was loud is because of my small garage, when car is outside noise is reduced and sounds normal as before
