What wuld happen if you would add too much transmission fluid?

The fluid will froth and you'd likely burn out your pump/clutches if it's a tip. If it's a manual the trans will puke fluid out of the vent on the top of the diff case.

Fill the trans on an incline or with the vehicle tilted to one side. With manuals its really easy to do if the car is on ramps, the fluid will go to the rear of the trans, so you put in another 1-2 quarts thinking it's low.
